Charities
Mission:
Our mission is to provide support and encouragement, by showing
God's love through the embrace of the body of Christ, for
families who have begun the journey of battling their child's
cancer.
Our mission will be carried out by establishing a network of
support that can walk alongside families, who have a child that
was diagnosed with cancer under the age of 3, throughout their
entire journey.

Goals. |

I
am very proud to tell you that the VCCA delivered a refurbished
Jeep Cherokee to the Tripp family of Ormond
Beach last night. As you know, this was one of our club's
community service projects with our primary charity, Parker's
Pals. Jamie Underwood of Parker's Pals told us of the Tripp
family's need
at our April 12 meeting. Their now 10-month-old daughter, Lianna,
has neuroblastoma, and needs treatment at Arnold Palmer Hospital
in Orlando. The family did not have reliable transportation for
mom, Lindsay, or dad, Clayton, to get care for their daughter.
Bud O'Neill took
this information to heart and was determined to help this
family. He found a donated Jeep that, with some work, could
become a good workhorse for this family. He also donated a baby
seat, which was much appreciated by the family!
Parker's Pals is
paying for all of the expenses related to the Jeep, and thanks
to the tireless efforts of many kind-hearted club members - Mike
Bruck, Larry Kupka, Chuck Powers, Burt Braman, Barry Davis - the
Jeep got a long list of repairs and maintenance items. We're
also grateful to the donations and discounts offered by our
local automotive suppliers, including NAPA DeLand, York
Automotive, Young Automotive Diagnostics, Carroll Tire, McGee
Goodyear, Tom's Upholstery and Hurley Chrysler Jeep Dodge.
We
also procured a one-year AAA Plus Membership donation for them,
and Parker's Pals paid for the first year of insurance, tag and
title costs, and provided them with some gift cards for fuel.
I will personally
say that this was a long and difficult project. But to see the
look of relief on the faces of Lindsay and Clayton, and to hear
their gratitude and thanks to us for this amazing gift, made it
all worthwhile. Best of all, this was something we were able to
do to give back to people in our county who needed our help.
This was not a donation of cash - as no VCCA funds were used.
This was a hands-on opportunity for our club to get involved.
My personal thanks
to those club members who were a part of this project. I'm very
proud of our club and our efforts in our community.
We also will be
submitting this story to the local media and the NCCC Blue Bars
magazine, as well as placement on our website.
I look forward to
seeing you at the drive-out on Wednesday, and at the meeting
next week!
Thanks!

MEAL
DELIVERY
Delivering
meals to busy Parker's Pals' families is a treat for members of
the Volusia County Corvette Association. In August, the club
brought meals to the Haswell family for three weeks. The group
delivered home-cooked lasagna with all of the trimmings, chicken
casserole, tacos, salad and desserts.

LIA GOES TO
DISNEY WORLD
A treat for Lia
and the Warrensford family - a weekend at Walt Disney World,
courtesy of a donation from the Volusia County Corvette
Association.
THANKFUL
MEALS
VCAA
donations helped provide meals for Parker's Pals' families for
Thanksgiving and Christmas. These busy families deserve having a
prepared meal delivered for the holidays!
VISIBILITY
The Volusia
County Corvette Association participated in the 2010 DeBary
Christmas Parade to help bring visibility to the mission of
Parker's Pals.

FUNDRAISING
The Volusia
County Corvette Association is very active in fundraising
activities. The club conducts 50/50 drawings at each meeting,
and held a successful yard sale October 23 in Deltona.
Significant funds were raised by participating in several high
school homecoming parades. And the club is planning a car show
January 15 to raise additional funds for Parker's Pals.
Thanks!
